Random things

Kemy - the 1st photo is edited with Adobe Photoshop Lightroom's preset action called antique photo. I downloaded the free trial to lightroom a couple of weeks ago - I have become sort of addicted to it now and will probably have to buy the program. I would have answered on your blog but I have never been invited. Sniff sniff. (bgenho@gmail.com)

Another funny story- last night after a dinner, I went to put Merry in the bath tub- she started crying saying there was corn in her nose. I looked- and yep there was a kernel of corn stuck up her nose - way up, not just in the squeezable part. Luckily, l have lots of practice extracting things, so armed with a bobby pin as an elevator and tweezers as a forcep I managed to extract the kernel. I have no idea why she put a kernel of corn up her nose- maybe because it fit.

for no reason at all

Funny but sort of sad things that happened- Jacob told me yesterday after he threw a fit in old navy, spilled his orange juice and then colored on the carpet with a permanent marker (luckily it was yellow) told me he was having a "bad move day." I think he actually meant bad mood day- but I bad move was more correct.
As I was taking barbie out of Merry's birthday cake I noticed that barbie's pony tail is like 4 times as thick as merry's. I actually think that barbie's hair is thicker than mine. Barbie legs and stomach are now stained a nice shade of pink from the frosting. Just a hint for anyone ever trying to make a doll cake like that- barbie's legs are freakishly long so she had to be sitting down in the cake- I had to add extra frosting around the bottom to cover her toes. Jacob then ate the frosting covering her feet and said look I took off her socks.

This is a pictures of me, my 3 sisters and sister law and our babies that were born in 2006. One of my sister's decided to drop out of the baby boom and one jumped the gun and had a baby in 2007. So only 3 of us are having babies in 2008.

Most of my family is in this picture from Thanksgiving- two brothers and their families weren't able to make it.

Happy birthday Merry

Merry posing on her birthday. All my plants are dead so I had to use black and white

Her ghetto birthday cake- I think I need to take cake decorating lessons from Jamie

Christmas Time

A disclaimer from the previous posting- Jacob and Merry get along most of the time. Usually it is Jacob is the one who ends up in tears because Merry was being mean to him.

Jacob didn't want to pose by himself so Merry volunteered to sit by him.

Best Buddies

Jacob and Merry are best buddies- every morning when Merry wakes up Jacob asks her if she is his cutie pie and does she need a drink of water. Jacob still thinks Merry is his baby and tries to hold her, Merry loves the attention so it works out pretty great.

Philadelphia- Washington DC- Virginia- New York

We took a long vacation over the Thanksgiving holiday- first we visited my brother in Philadelphia. We made it through about 10 minutes of the 30 minute Independence hall tour- Jacob was very impressed with the bell with the big crack.

We found this homeless little waif in Washington square (it is where the tomb of the unkown soldier from the revolutionary war is)

I think Jacob was more impressed by the pigeons then everything. He was convinced there was supposed to be ducks in the fountain in Washington Square

We then went to Sperryville, VA to visit my other brother who runs a ranch there. It was so beautiful with all the leaves changing. Jacob and his cousin Brett are looking for eggs in the chicken coop.

Merry chased a poor chicken down and carried it around. After Brian told her she couldn't carry it by the wings she got mad at the chicken and kicked it. She made up for it by giving it some chicken feed.

This is Jacob and his pretty cousin Ava- she got her rabbit at the small animal auction for 1 dollar- I think this might qualify her family as rednecks

We visited the smithsonian museum of natural history- Thanks to jacob's speed we saw most of the museum in about 2 hrs.

Forget the washington Monument- the lights around it were way cooler

If you look close at the lincoln memorial picture Jacob is sitting by a sign that says no sitting. This was right before the security gaurd told Brian to control his kids

Thanksgiving at the kid's table- My sister in law made cute cornicopias (sp?) out of icecream cones and candy- I think this was the most popular thanksgiving dish.
This is Jacob with his 4 cousins that are all his age- he had such a fun time playing with them all

We went to NY after Thanksgiving- It was freezing cold and rainy- This is outside St. Pauls Chapel across the street from the World Trade Center site
Merry at rockerfeller center - she definately has her own sense of style
Jacob sound asleep on brian's shoulder- he really didn't think much of times square except the big movie about m&m's outside the m&m store. We did go see the statue of liberty but it was so foggy the pictures aren't very clear. Overall we had a great time but are very glad to be home.
