Odyssey of the Mind

Jacob and Merry recently participated in the Odyssey of the Mind tournament.
The problem they had to solve was to raise 3 objects from 5ft, 8ft and 10ft away.
I was surprised how creative this group was. They used pvc pipes and 2 liter soda bottles with rockets attached to raise the objects. I was impressed and so were the judges. They received an Omer award from the judges for their creativity.

Adam is 2

It is hard to believe our little Adam is already 2.
He has turned into a little spit-fire. I usually find him outside chasing the geese around or riding his scooter full speed down the hill.
Jacob, Merry and Grace all worship him. I am pretty sure he knows that and uses it to his advantage.
He is a lover of trains, trucks, airplanes and boats. Anything that moves faster than he does.
He has turned Grace's pink stroller into a demolition derby car. He races around the house crashing it into everything and everybody.
He loves to read any book about animals.
The "Wheels on the Bus" is his favorite song. He randomly belts it out at earsplitting levels.
Usually only the wheel verse and the baby verse are alternated.
He is a happy boy and we are glad he is our Adam.
Adam and his birthday cake.
His cake had a sad tale. I have a muffin pan that bakes train cars and 1 engine. While it was cooling a certain 3 year old climbed up and ate the only engine. So the coal car had to be converted to the engine. I don't think Adam really cared, but the 3 year old was in tears.
Adam and his "truck." Fortunately someone spilled bubbles on it the same day that he opened it so the noises and lights quit working.
Cake is always best when eaten alfresco.

Baseball/T-ball

We have had a year long break from sports since moving from Texas.

Jacob and Merry both wanted to try baseball this season.
Cute little Merry in her uniform.
Good job Merry, way to be the only one looking at me.

Jacob showing off a baseball pose.
2 of Grace's friends have older brothers on Jacob's team, so she is having a blast.
We will be back to the lazy life in 12 weeks.

Fair Parade

Merry was in the fair parade on President's Day. Can you find her? She is the bunny right in the front with the pink plastic guitar.

While we waited for the parade to start, here are some pictures of the other chitlins. Jacob has been spending a lot more time in the sun and has a nice sprinkling of freckles over his nose now. Grace loves her long hair but never wants it up so it always looks like this. When you tell Adam a funny joke he sticks out his tongue. He also has learned the phrase diet mountain dew. I am not sure where he picked that one up.

Daddy - Daughter Dance

Merry and Jacob's elementary school had a Daddy- Daughter dance for Valentine's Day.
The girls loved it.

The girls in their fancy finery.
Who is that crazy person in the background?
Brian with his 2 pretty girls.
The theme for the dance was frilly dresses and fishing poles so they had gold fish for snacks and a fishing pond and other cute fishing activities. The girls had a great time dancing while Brian supervised. This is all I could get out of Brian. He will have to add more commentary on the event.

Pinewood derby

Jacob's 1st pinewood derby.
He wasn't sure which number was lucky so he put 10 different numbers on it just to make sure it had some luck.
I like the car jumping the track in the background.

He ended up winning 3rd place. Good job Jacob.
